How Many Camels Am I Worth (the “Site“) is operated as a free, light-hearted entertainment website. The camel calculator and any related calculators, tools, articles and content on the Site (collectively, the “Content“) are provided purely for amusement and casual interest. They are not intended to be taken seriously, and no part of the Content should be relied upon for any purpose whatsoever.

The “camel worth” score produced by the calculator is generated by a transparent but arbitrary scoring algorithm that we invented. It is loosely inspired by historical practices of valuing humans in livestock — practices that we acknowledge as culturally and historically significant, but which have no relevance to modern British life. The calculator exists to playfully evoke that history, not to perpetuate any suggestion that humans can or should be valued in livestock.

2. Not professional, financial, medical, legal or relationship advice

None of the Content on this Site constitutes professional advice of any kind. In particular:

• Not financial advice: The camel pricing figures shown on the Site (for example, on our how much is a camel worth page) are based on publicly available sources cited on that page. They are indicative only, do not constitute a market valuation, and should not be relied upon when buying, selling or valuing any animal. Always obtain a professional valuation from a qualified exotic livestock appraiser before any transaction.
• Not medical or psychological advice: The calculator’s questions about body type, fitness and personality are not health assessments. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified medical professional, therapist, counsellor or nutritionist.
• Not legal advice: The legal information on this Site (for example, references to UK GDPR, the Animal Welfare Act 2006, or DEFRA requirements) is provided for general information only and does not constitute legal advice. Always consult a qualified solicitor for advice on any legal matter.
• Not relationship advice: The “partner” and “mate” calculator modes are jokes. The “bonus” applied in partner mode is not a real assessment of your relationship. Do not use the calculator to evaluate, compare or rank actual relationships, and please do not break up with anyone on the basis of a camel score.

3. The scoring formula is arbitrary

The eight factors used by the camel calculator (age, height, hair colour, eye colour, body type, personality, fitness, dress sense) and the weighting applied to each are entirely our own invention. They are not based on any anthropological, sociological or economic research, and they do not reflect any real-world dowry or valuation system past or present. The “verdict” text accompanying each score range is also arbitrary and is written for entertainment value rather than accuracy.

Different camel calculators on the internet use different formulas. If you score 85 camels on our calculator and 130 camels on a competitor’s, that does not mean the competitor thinks you are more valuable — it means their formula is more generous than ours. No camel calculator score is more or less “correct” than any other, because they are all made up.

4. Every human being has equal inherent worth

We want to be absolutely clear about this. The camel calculator assigns a fictional score to a set of physical and personality traits for entertainment purposes only. It is not a statement that any person is worth more or less than any other person. Every human being has equal, inherent and inalienable worth that cannot be measured in camels, money, livestock or any other unit.

The calculator is built around traits that have historically been associated with dowry or bride-price systems in certain cultures. By including those traits, we are not endorsing those systems, validating them, or suggesting they should be revived. We are playing with a piece of shared internet culture that itself plays with that history. If the calculator’s framing ever makes you genuinely uncomfortable, please stop using it — and please let us know so we can review the wording.

5. Cultural and historical sensitivity

The practice of valuing humans in camels, cattle or other livestock was (and in some places still is) a genuine economic and cultural tradition in Bedouin, Somali, Maasai and other nomadic cultures. We have done our best to treat that tradition with respect rather than mockery — acknowledging its real historical roots rather than presenting the camel calculator as a random joke. If any content on the Site causes offence or appears to misrepresent any culture, tradition or community, we want to know. Please contact us and we will review the content in question. We are a small operation and we read every message personally.

6. Accuracy of information

While we make reasonable efforts to ensure that factual content on the Site (for example, camel prices, camel facts, historical information) is accurate at the time of publication, we make no warranties or representations about the accuracy, completeness, reliability or currency of any information on the Site. All information is provided “as is” and may become out of date, particularly pricing data which fluctuates over time.

Where we cite sources (such as Selina Wamucii for camel pricing, or academic papers for historical claims), we have done so in good faith based on publicly available information at the time of writing. We are not responsible for the accuracy of third-party sources, and you should verify any factual claim independently before relying on it.

7. External links

The Site contains links to external websites (for example, sources we cite, related information, social media share buttons). Those links are provided for convenience and information only. We have no control over the content or practices of those external sites, and we accept no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage arising from your use of them. The inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement of the linked site.

8. Affiliate links and advertising

The Site is partly funded by Google AdSense display advertising. AdSense ads appear on various pages of the Site, are visually labelled as advertising, and are clearly distinguishable from editorial content. AdSense cookies are only set if you accept advertising cookies via our cookie banner — see our Advertising & Cookies Policy for full details. The Site may also, in future, contain affiliate links — meaning we may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase, at no additional cost to you. This includes (without limitation) damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (c) any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law. Because the Site is a free entertainment tool that processes no sensitive data and offers no commercial transactions, the realistic risk of any such liability arising is extremely low.

10. User conduct and acceptable use

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict the use and enjoyment of, the Site by any third party. You agree not to:

• Use the calculator or any other Content to harass, bully, demean or discriminate against any person;
• Use the calculator’s “partner” or “mate” modes to evaluate someone without their consent;

If you share a calculator result on social media, please do so respectfully. We encourage humour and gentle teasing between friends and partners, but please do not use the Site as a vehicle for cruelty.
